Muscle Rev Xtreme Review – Is it Just Another Scam?

On the Muscle Rev Xtreme website, the makers of the supplement claim that taking it will lead to a, “perfect physique, stronger muscles, improved overall performance and greater stamina”. Upon closer inspections of the ingredients contained in Rev Xtreme, it becomes fairly clear that the company’s claims might be a little exaggerated. While MuscleRev Xtreme website boasts a powerful, effective supplement, the label of ingredients might suggest otherwise.

Muscle Rev Xtreme Ingredients

First, it is important to evaluate this product from a cost perspective. When examining the product’s nutrition label, one can find the following ingredients: Calcium, folic acid, vitamin C, beet extract (150mg), and what Muscle Rev Xtreme calls an “Elite NO2 Blend”, comprised of L-citrulline, lovage powder, coenzyme q10, L-taurine, and L-norvaline. To begin with, many of the product’s ingredients can be found in a typical multivitamin for a fraction of the price. For example, amazon.com lists Rev Xtreme at $0.43 cents per pill, while a kirkland signature “daily multi” (containing calcium, vitamin C, and folic acid, among many other essential nutrients) is listed at $0.03 cents per pill. The supplement also boasts “150mg beet extract nitrates”, which may at first glance seem like an effective amount. This is not the case. According to an article posted in livestrong.com, one beet contains 200mg of nitrates, and a cup of beetroot juice contains around 700mg. Therefore, this supplement contains roughly 3/4 of one beet’s worth of nitrates, which, according to a study referenced by runnersworld.com, is not close to enough. According to the study, it took about 500mL (or 2 cups) of beetroot juice to yield athletic benefits.

A close inspection of Muscle Rev Xtreme’s more “exotic” ingredients (contained in the product’s “Elite NO2 Blend”) is also neccesary. To begin with, the “Elite NO2 Blend” is proprietary, which means that it is impossible to know exactly how much of each ingredient the product contains. This is an automatic cause for suspicion, due to the mostly unregulated nature of the supplement industry. In many cases, companies will add a disproportionate amount of the cheapest ingredient (often sugar), and minimal amounts of the other, more expensive ingredients. In this product, the proprietary blend contains just 1020 milligrams of total ingredients, which is far less than an effective dose of l-citrulline alone (according to a study published by the British Journal of Nutrition referenced in livestrong.com, an effective dose was approximately 6g). In conclusion, while it is impossible to know for certain whether or not any of the ingredients listed are in effective dosages, the evidence points to the contrary.

Muscle Rev Xtreme Side Effects – Is Muscle Rev Xtreme Safe?

As far as side-effects go, the product is relatively safe. WebMD lists lovage, l-citrulline, l-taurine, and coenzyme q10, as “possibly” or “likely” safe for adults and children. L-norvaline had less information, and according to Dr. Ray Sahelian, M.D., “no claims can be made regarding the benefit or side effect of L-norvaline supplementation”. Overall, there is not much evidence to suggest that Rev Xtreme is harmful, but make sure to always double check with your doctor.
